What is HMR
Human Resources management. The process of determining human resource needs and then recruiting, selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating, compensating, and scheduling employees to achieve organizational goals.
What does title VII of the civil rights act of 1964 do?
Prohibits the discrimination in hiring, firing, compensation, apprenticeships, training, terms, conditions, or privileges based on race, religion, creed, sex, or national origin.
What are three things to remember for anyone considering Human Resources?
- Must know and act in accordance with legal rights of employees
- Legislation affects all aspects of employment; hiring, firing, training, and compensation
- legislation is always changing, you must keep up to date by reading and staying informed.
Many challenges overcome by new ideas, new products, and new level of productivity - in other words
on or from people with good ideas.
What is the EEOA and EEOC
The Equal Employment Oppurtunity Act was added to title VII to strengthen the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission giving them more power to issue guidelines for employment.
What do accommodations mean according to the ADA
Treating people according to their specific needs. Such as widening doorways, putting in ramps, etc.
What are the five steps of Human Resources planning
- Preparing a human resource inventory of the employees

What is a job analysis
Is a study of what employees do who hold certain jobs

Specifies types of work, responsibilities, duties, etc

What is HRIS
Human Resource Information System, manages organizations employee data base.
Define recruitment
set of activities for hiring the right people at the right time
What are three challenges to retaining talent
- Inner company policies such as having to promote from within, union regs, ets.
- Emphasizing culture fits
- No one available to recruit forces promotion or training from within.
