Q

What is single autosomal gene inheritance?

A

In diploid cells, alleles occur in pairs. One chromosome is inherited from the female parent via egg and the other via sperm from the male parent. The alleles dominance determines to phenotype expressed. Figure 10.1.2

Q

What is incomplete dominance?

A

When an organism had a different phenotype of its purebred parents as one gene is not dominant over the other.

Q

How does sex-linked inheritance occur?

A

In diploid organisms where the chromosomes are hemizygous (only a single copy of a gene)

16
Q

What is polygenic inheritance?

A

transmission of characteristics controlled by two or more genes

17
Q

What is an example of polygenic inheritance?

A

Human height

18
Q

What is continuous variation?

A

Traits controlled by two or more genes (polygenes). The greater number of genes to greater the distribution

19
Q

What is discontinuous variation?

A

Traits controlled by one gene
