to provide a non-adversarial atmosphere in which managment and labour can work together to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. Most jurisdictions require a joint health and safety committee to be established in each workplace with a minimum number of workers
what is the Employers role when it comes to safety?
they must ensure that every responsible precaution is taken to ensure the health and safety of workers
what are some enforcements of OHS laws?
- periodic or unschedules OHS inspections of workplace without a warrant
- penslaities consist of fines and /or jail terms for individual managers, executives and company directors
