How would you describe colonists in the 1750s?
They were loyal to Britain and looked up to the British soldiers for protection from the French. They also had many languages, religions, and good trade as well as salutary neglect.
Why was the Seven Years War fought?
The British and French fought for land and wealth in furs and fish as imports.

What was the result of the Seven Years War?
- The the Treaty of Paris in 1763 was signed where land west of the Mississippi River was given to Spain who allied France.
- The colonists headed for the Appalachian Mountains, but the Indians captured some of their forts.
- The Proclamation of 1763 gave land west of the Appalachians to Indians.
The war caused hardship because:
Britain had to pay debts.
They needed to pay their 10000 soldiers.
The Indians lost power from setting the French against the British.
The deaths left many people suffering and without money.
The colonists felt weaker ties to Britain.
They became skilled soldiers.
How were the colonies able to benefit for the war?
They got the all the land East of the Appalachians.
They had less dependance on Britain and could fight themselves.

What was the effect of the Intolerable Acts?
Boston did not pay for the tea; instead other colonies sent food and supplies to help them.
First Continental Congress, a group from every Colony except Georgia, met to vote to stop trade with britain.
Colonists began to view themselves as Americans, instead of Virginians, Pennsylvanians, Etc.
The colonists’ view of Britain changed, instead of seeing Britain as protecting them, seeing Britain as a danger to their liberties.
Patrick Henry of Virginia gave a famous speech, saying Give me liberty or give me death, and calling for war.
