-confluent erythematous maculopapular rays that starts on head and progresses caudally

coryza, cough, conjunctivitis, koplik spots
Complications of measles
- pneumonia
- myocarditis
- encephalitis
- rarely = suabacute sclerosising panencephalitis
Mumps exanthem
none
Mumps features
swollen salivary glands, especially parotids
Mumps Complications
orchitis
pancreatitis
arthralgias
rare = encephalitis
Rubella exnthem
similar to measles BUT DOES NOT COALESCE
Rubella other features
suboccipital and posterior auricular lymphadenopathy
Rubella complications
polyarticular arthritis or arthraligas
rare = encephalitis
Roseola (herpes virus 6) exanthem
maculopapular
Roseola other features
high fever that resolves as rash appears
Complications of roseola
febrile seizures
-rare = meningoencephalitis
Erythema inectiosum (5ths dz; parvo b19 virus) exanthem
slapped cheeks appearance followed by spread to extremities in reticular pattern
Erythema infectiosum other features
transient aplastic crisis in child w/ hemoglobinopathy
