Prayer
Prayer is a vital part of Catholic life. Prayer is a living relationship between God and us. At the heart of this relationship is communication, a sense that we are speaking to God as a friend.

Prayer is communication with God
It is important to pray so we can share our lives with God. In prayer God speaks to us through silence that often brings with it a deep sense of peace.
Ways of Praying :Liturgical Prayer
Liturgical Prayer is expressed in the celebration of the Mass and the Sacraments. The Eucharist is the greatest prayer where we meet Christ in a person relationship.
Doxology
A formula or prayer or praise to God - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Personal Prayer
Personal Prayer is expressed in the relationship between God and the individiual person.
Communal prayer
The power of communal Prayer unites individuals in the community with God.
Types of prayer
Blessing- This prayer acknowledges God’s presence.
Adoration- Expresses deep love of God, especially to Jesus present in the Eucharist.
Petition- When people pray they often ask for things.
Intercession- This is a type of prayer when we ask for something on behalf of someone else.
Thanksgiving- This simply means thanking God.
Praise - This type of prayer recognises the power and majesty of God.
A Traditional Prayer: The Rosary
The Rosary is made up of mental and social prayer. The rosary helps us reflect on the life, death, passion and glory of Jesus. Joyful, sorrowful, glorious and luminous Mysteries.
