- Depicts flat static figures
- like his other work it mock traditional work like Titian’s Venus
- He once again depicts a confident prostitute that meets the viewers eye while here African servant offers her flowers that are most likely from a client
- Manet studies the light in the space and breaks the canvas up into areas of light and dark

- La Grenouilliere, Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1869)
- Renoir use a natural cropping that cuts off certain figure and elements giving the work a candid photo like composition
- New Labor laws lead to the working class having more leisure time, and provided artists with a new real subject
- Renoir use unmixed color on the canvas as the rise of paint tubes allowed work to be done outside from direct observation
- while all of the figures are painterly there is close attention paid to the light cast through the trees and over certain surfaces

- Morning Sun, Camille Pissaro (1897)
- Pissaro uses small strokes over the whole piece to create a blurry image, the figure and trees are lost in the space but the light and shadow provide clear shapes in the work
- The piece depicts the leisure of the working class and uses un mixed color directly on the canvas to let the viewers eye blend the color
