What is atman?
The spark of the devine.
What are the aims of an Hindu life?
Kama- pleasure
Artha- wealth and power
Dharma- standards you must achieve to be enlightened
Mosksha- enlightenment.
What is Brahman?
The life beyond the universe- God.
What is moksha?
Enlightenment- the escape of rebirth.
What is karma?
The good deeds and bad deeds in life that determine whether you go up the ladder towards Moksha or down the ladder further away from Moksha.
What is Dharma?
What you must do in your cast. Your duty.
What is samsara?
The cycle of re-birth.
What does puja mean?
Worship
Where can Hindus pray?
Anywhere so long as they have a mat to pray on and are facing Mecca.
Why does Ganesh have a big head?
Because it allows him to think BIG.
What do you have on a shrine?
Bell- to wake up the gods
Incense- to carry prayers in smoke
Fruit- offering
Picture of loved one- makes you think of them while praying
Picture of entity- think of while praying
Kum kum powder
Flowers- offering
Why does Ganesh only have one tusk?
So that he can retain good and throw away bad
Why does Ganesh have a big belly?
Because it helps him digest good and bad in life
Why is there always a mouse in pictures of Ganesh?
Because it represents desire- unless under control can cause havoc.
