Chapter 1 - Aircraft General Flashcards
Emergency (EMER) EXIT LIGHTS Switch - Guarded Position will illuminate all emergency lights automatically if:
(If, then x 2)
- airplane electrical power to DC bus No. 1 fails or
- AC power is turned off.
Oxygen Mask RESET/TEST Lever
(if x2)
- Mask stowed, activates oxygen flow momentarily to test regulator
- Mask not stowed, activates mask microphone and regulator and keeps box OXY ON flag visible until released.
Oxygen Mask Regulator Selector (rotate)
(x3 - Emergency N1)
- EMER - supplies 100% oxygen under positive pressure at all cabin altitudes. Use to purge contaminants from mask and to remove condensation or fogging from interior of mask lens.
- 100% - supplies 100% oxygen on demand
- NORM - supplies air/oxygen mixture on demand (ratio depends on cabin altitude)
Oxygen Mask Inflation Lever (squeeze)
(x2)
- inflates mask harness
- flow indicator shows a yellow cross momentarily as harness inflates.
Lighting Systems?
(x4, think outside to inside of the plane + emergency)
- exterior lighting
- flight deck lighting
- passenger cabin lighting
- emergency lighting.
Retractable Landing Lights - Limitation?
None - may be extended at any speed.
Loss of Flight Deck Lighting - What is retained?
(5x - navigate overhead with instruments and systems that warn you )
Standby electrical power is automatically provided to the standby compass light, dome lights, instrument flood lights and selected system information and warning lights
FASTEN BELTS and RETURN TO SEAT signs - Auto-activation?
(x2)
- illuminate when flaps OR gear are extended
- extinguish when flaps AND gear are retracted.
Emergency exit lights automatic illumination
(x2)
If electrical power to DC bus No. 1 fails or if AC power turned off
Number of oxygen systems?
One for the flight crew and one for the passengers
O2 cylinder location?
forward and aft areas of the passenger cabin.
Flight Crew Oxygen System - Altitude for pressure breathing?
(breathe before RVSM)
Above 27,000’
PBE/Smoke Hood time limits?
15 to over 20 minutes of oxygen depending upon the device used.
PSU oxygen flow time
(Think EMOM, can’t stop)
12 minutes and cannot be shut off.
Portable oxygen PSI
(Urumqi req’s for 767)
1800 PSI
Portable oxygen flow rates
(2x - same as every other plane)
- 2 liters per minute for walk–around;
- 4 liters per minute for first aid
Entry/Services doors - limitations?
40kts operating
65kts open
Emergency evacuation may be accomplished through..
- Four entry/service doors
- Four over-wing escape hatches.
- Two sliding flight deck windows.
The over-wing emergency exits lock when:
(3x - think sequential from gate..)
• Three of the four Entry/Service doors are closed AND
• Either engine is running AND
• Airplane air/ground logic indicates that the airplane is in the air OR
both thrust levers are advanced.
Seat adjustment - eye height
- Sight along the upper surface of the glareshield with a small amount of the airplane nose structure visible
- Sight over the control column (in the neutral position) until the bottom edge of the lower display unit is visible
Galleys - Electrical power source?
(1x - moving meals from the catering truck to the plane….)
115V AC supplied from the TX Buses and controlled by a switch on the overhead panel.
Circuit breakers are located in the lower E/E bay as part of the power distribution panels.
Where is the flight crew oxygen pressure display?
On the flight crew oxygen pressure indicator on the aft overhead panel.
Servicing of the water system
(service the water from the…..aft..)
From an exterior panel located on the bottom right side of the aft fuselage
The Oxygen Mask Release Levers when squeezed and pulled
Activates the oxygen and microphone when the stowage box door opens
At what cabin altitude is the passenger oxygen system automatically activated?
14,000 feet.
The PASS OXY ON light illuminates. What does this indicate?
The passenger oxygen system is activated and masks have dropped
Interior emergency exit lights are located
a. in the lower inboard corner of the stowage bins.
b. over the entry / service doors and overwing emergency hatches.
c. in the ceiling.
d. all of the answers are correct.
D
What happens with the NO SMOKING switch in AUTO?
The NO SMOKING signs illuminate when the landing gear is extended.
(smoke the gear)
The emergency exit light switch in the ARMED position illuminates all interior and exterior emergency lights if:
1) There is a loss of electrical power on DC Bus No.1, or
2) If AC power has been turned off.
(be ready (armed) for the DACing).
