Define Educational Psychology
Defined as the discipline with development, evaluation, and application of our understanding of human learning in an educational setting. It’s translation to effective learning and instructions
Experimental Research
is used to establish that one event leads or causes another. Changing some aspect of environment and recording the results.
Manipulation
the change the researcher makes to the environment
Independent Variable
this is what the researcher actively manipulates
Dependent Variable
measurement of what happens based on the researchers manipulation
Random Assignment
Process of assigning participants to study groups “with or without study guide” -quality and reliability of the test
Generalization
the appropriateness of applying research results to setting that differ from the research setting.
Single-Subject research
looking at individual effects, not the average; used when looking at a reading approach for one individual
Descriptive Research
Research method that accurately describes a behavior or environment condition of interest
Correlation Research
Describes events and how they relate to one another
Quasi-experiments
limited control of variables
