What is the definition of role equipment?
that equipment which is fitted to enable a specific role or operation in a particular environment to be carried out.
Who is responsible for the operational control of role equipment?
The responsibility for operational control is vested in the respective Command, which may delegate it to role equipment control centres at a Station, Ship, or Unit.
What is Permanent-Fit Role Equipment?
Permanent-Fit Role Equipment forms part of the Air System basic fit and/or inventory and is transferred with the Air System.
When is Permanent-Fit Role Equipment removed from an Air System?
It is only removed for fault rectification, preventive maintenance, or embodiment of modifications.
What are examples of Permanent-Fit Role Equipment?
Examples include the semi-automatic cargo release unit (SACRU) and six-man seats.
What is Temporary-Fit Role Equipment?
Temporary-Fit Role Equipment is fitted to an Air System on a temporary basis for a specific sortie or number of sorties.
What is Special Role Equipment?
Special Role Equipment is procured in limited quantities to meet special operational commitments and is returned to Role Equipment control after the operation.
What is Squadron Role Equipment?
Squadron Role Equipment is fitted by Stns/Ships/Units to meet specific common role requirements and is permanently held by the Stn/Ship/Unit.
What is Ready-Use Role Equipment?
Role Equipment held forward of a Stn supply organization, ready for immediate Air System use, subject only to a minimal pre-issue check.
Example: Buffer assembly for a door gun mount (See Fig 12).
What is In-Storage Role Equipment?
Role equipment held by the supply organization as a long-term spare, including items not in current use but retained for contingencies.
Example: Missile launchers for the Lynx (See Fig 13).
Role equipment is divided into following categories.
