When responding to any type of run at USPS bulk facilities what should always be done

If a BDS alarm goes off in a USPS bulk facilty where will postal workers be
The will proceed to a SAFE REFUGE AREA” within the facility and await establishment if decon areas by the Fdny
NOTE : USPS refers to this area as “IN PLANT REFUGE “
1st arriving units at BDS alarm in USPS bulk facility will report where?
Initial emergency response meeting point and make contact with USPS liaison
Who is responsible for searches in USPS facility
USPS will be responsible for accounting for all employes , visitors and or customers and are responsible to conduct a primary and search if necessary
When can units on the initial alarm enter facility during initial stages of operation ?
Units responding on the initial alarm will not enter facility in early stages unless there is a life hazard that needs to be addressed immediately
If initial alarm units make entry for life safety then :
- Wear full PPE ( bunker gear and SCBA is acceptable for life safety if higher level of PPE is not available )
- Prior to entry , an emergency Decon area shall be established and a back up team designated
- After exit process to CRZ for Decon
- Maintain respiratory protection throughout Decon process
Exposure groups at bio detection in a USPS bulk facility will be divided into 3 groups . Who will determine where employes of the facility fall into specific groups
The USPS will determine where people fit into each exposure group
