How does a descriptive approach describe a sense of place?
The world is made up of a set of places, each of which can be studies through a description of its physical and human characteristics.
How does a social constructionist approach describe a sense of place?
Places are the product of social processes occurring at a particular time and place and it is this that gives meaning to a place.
How does a phenomenological approach describe a sense of place?
Places are defined through human experiences. It is the connection between place and person that transforms unknown spaces into familiar places,
How does a cultural approach describe a sense of place?
Places are given meaning by the traces that exist in them.Physical traces such as buildings and historical monuments and emotional traces such as events.
What is Glocalisation?
This centres on the promotion of local goods and services and the adaption of global products to the specific locality in a n effort to regain local cultures and identities.
What are exogenous factors with respect to place?
The external influences on a place’s identity. They are caused by a place’s relationship with other places.
What are endogenous factors with respect to place?
The local internal characteristics that shape a place’s identity.
