Who is eligible to promote?

A

All employees who meet minimum quals, except employees who have been demoted at his/her own request or for cause may not compete in promotional for 90 days after the effective date of demotion (last can be waved by director w/hr city manager approval).

What are the conditions for special assignment?

A

Director or city manager can place an employee on special assignment (SA) assuming higher level job responsibilities than normally covered per classification.

Not to exceed 12 months. Can be extended 12 more if approved by Director or city manager.

Sworn serving in a rotational capacity can be placed for 2 years. After 2 years, subject to yearly renewal.

5% pay increase to compensate for higher Lvl work performed. Can be bumped up to 10%. Less than 1 year assignment=original pay.

Same step pay increases on common review cycle.
