An employee who is absent without supervisory approval (unpaid time off) has a non excused absence, is subject to what disciplinary action (no call no show)?

A

For the 1st instance….the employee gets a written reprimand.

2nd. ..(within 6 months of the 1st absence), the employee can receive 3 days of suspension.
3rd. ..(6 months from the 1st), the employee can be dismissed from employment.

5 consecutive work days, or 40 consecutive work hours, or two (2) consecutive work shifts or 48 hours for firefighters or more is considered abandonment of employment.

What is sick time?

A

Sick time includes all periods of approved absence with pay granted an employee due to:

Illness or injury, which renders the employee unable to perform the duties of the position. Minor, non disabling injuries and illnesses do not qualify an employee for sick time.

Disability caused by pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage.

Illness, injury, examination or treatment (by a Dr.) of the employees immediate family. (In laws, stepchildren, step-parentinlaws, and legal guardian of adults count)

Bereavement time is allowed
