Time , money population ,kind of sample and response rate are issued to consider when selecting a self report mode
Group administrated questionnaires
Questionnaire administrated to respondents in a group setting
Group advantages
Provides researcher with some control over the setting in which the questionnaire is complete ,allows respondents to participate anonymously and are typically inexpensive
Group disadvantages
Extra pressure to participate that people might feel when in a group setting raises an ethical concern about voluntary participation and the limit to the length of time that groups will allot to data collection mandates using a short questionnaire
Mailed and individually administered questionnaires
Questionnaire mailed to the respondent residence or workplace
Mailed advantages
People are familiar with them , they are fairly inexpensive the researcher can cover wide geographic area. Can answer in private with fewer social pressures to confirm expectations from others
Individually administered questionnaires

Individually advantages
Has a better response rate
Individually disadvantages
More expensive
Internet or web survey

Internet/web Advantages
internet is Useful if you need a large sample , don’t have much money, and can’t travel to participants
Web can be interactive and can be programmed to vary the questions and keep respondents from skipping questions
Internet /web disadvantages
When a percentage population does not have internet access an issue for internet surveys is coverage error the kind of sampling error that arises when the sampling frame is different from the intended population
