- removes extra glucose/ stores as glycogen
- destroys old erythrocytes (rbcs)
- removes blood toxins
- stores iron, and vitamin A, B12, D
- makes bilirubin

- travels from hepatic to cystic duct (leads to gallbladder)
- when needed the gallbladder will contract to release bile down thru cystic duct into the common bile duct
- common bile duct into the duodenum

Pigment that is made from destruction of hemoglobin
- liver releases it into Bile

Mixes and delays movement of ingesta in small intestine

Absorption of food (happens in small intestine)
