Ch4: Non-normal Procedures Flashcards
There are three defined phases of operation that affect the application of the
DDG/MEL in the event of equipment failure.
(1) Prior to Despatch
(2) After Despatch and Prior to Take-off
(3)After Take-off
(1) The DDG/MEL shall be applied.
(2) Following any appropriate QRH action, the DDG/MEL shall be consulted. If the
DDG/MEL conflicts with the QRH, the QRH takes precedence.
(3)Following any appropriate QRH action, the DDG/MEL should be consulted to assess the impact of equipment failure on subsequent despatch.
Minimum action altitude?
the higher of the altitude at which the aircraft is in controlled flight or 400 ft AAL
In-flight restart of an engine intentionally shut down should only be attempted if the
PIC considers the action to be necessary to ___________ .
preserve the safety of the aircraft.
Landing a company aircraft above the maximum structural landing weight, without
jettisoning or burning fuel, is permitted in the following situations (4):
● when directed by a checklist to land at the nearest suitable airfield
● when the captain has reason to doubt the continued airworthiness of the aircraft
● when any condition exists where an expeditious landing would reduce the
exposure to any hazard that could degrade or compromise safety
● when serious illness or accident to crew or passengers requires immediate
medical attention.
Prior to commencing an overweight landing flight crew shall consider (5):
● the runway and weather conditions ● aircraft performance ● manoeuvring speeds ● flap-extension speeds ● tyre-speed limits.
________ shall not be used for landing above the maximum structural landing weight .
Autoland
In close proximity to other traffic, consideration should be given to reducing vertical rate in the last ______ ft prior to level-off.
