CH19 Flashcards
Biodiversity
variety of living things at all levels
Taxonomy
study of grouping and naming organisms
8 levels of classification in order

Binomial nomenclature
Two-part scientific name of an organism
Rules for naming a species

Phylogeny
Study of evolutionary history

Protista vs Archaea vs Eubacteria
Protista: eukaryote (one cell) *random
Archaea: prokaryote (one cell) no peptidoglycan, extreme places
Eubacteria: prokaryote (one cell), peptidoglycan, common
Plants vs Animals vs Fungi
Fungus: eukaryote (multicellular), external digestion
Animals: eukaryote (multicellular), internal digestion
Plants: eukaryote (multicellular), photosynthesis
