- complaint of tingling,warmth, or burning of the skin
- dry or flaking skin
- itching or scratching
- rash or any skin discoloration
- swelling
- fluid or blood draining from skin
- broken skin
- wounds or ulcers on the skin
At a minimum how often should residents be repositioned?
At least every 2 hours

- back rests provide support and comfort
- bed cradles or foot cradles are used to keep the bed covers from resting on residents legs &feet
- footboards are padded boards placed against the residents feet to keep them properly aligned

Why is it unnecessary for many elderly people to have a complete bath or shower every day?
Older skin produces less perspiration and oil. Elderly people with dry and fragile skin should should bathe only once or twice a week this prevents further dryness
Why should residents as well as CNA’s test the water temperature before bathing ?
Resident should test water to see if comfortable
CNA should test that water doesn’t exceed 105 degrees F

To prevent infection
