restraint alternatives are any interventions used in place of a restraint or that reduces the need for a restraint.
6 things that must be done if a resident is restrained?
- know your states laws & facility rules regarding applying restraints
- follow manufacturers instructions when applying restraints
- restraints can only be attached to the movable parts of bed
- place call light within residents reach
- document restraint use according to facility
- make sure the breasts or skin are not caught in the restraint
