Ch11 Key Terms Flashcards
ANOVA
A stats technique that determines if 3 or more values are different from another
Chi-square
A stats technique that tests for difference between 2 or more groups
Follow up test
A test that flags the means that are statistically different from each other. They’re performed after an ANOVA determines there are differences between means
F-test
Test that evaluates differences between the group means and ANOVa
Independent samples
Two or more groups of responses that are tested, and they might come from different populations
Interaction effect
Multiple independent variables in ANOVA can act tgt to affect dependant variable group means
Mean
The average of values in a sample data
Median
The middle value of an ordered set of values
Half of the responses are above and half are below median
Mode
The most frequently occurring value in a distribution of values
N-way ANOVA
Type of ANOVA that can analyze multiple indépendant variables at the same time
Perceptual mapping
Technique used to picture the position of products
Range
Defines the spread of the data
The distance between the smallest and largest values of the distribution
Related samples
2 or more groups of responses that are from the sample population
Comparing answers require the use of T-test
Standard deviation
The average distance of the distribution values from the mean
T-test
A test that uses t-distribution. Used when the sample size is small, and the standard deviation is unknown
