CH1:Anatomy and physiology intro Flashcards
Dissect, study structure
Anatomy
Palms are forward, facing forward, line of symmetry is bilateral
Anatomical
The study of function
Physiology
The levels of organization are
Atoms to molecules to cells to tissues to organs to systems to organism
Ventral anterior versus dorsal posterior equals
Billy side up, front, belly side down, back
Superior versus inferior equals
Above versus Below
Ipsilateral versus contralateral equals
Same versus on the opposite side of line of symmetry or left left right right or left right
Lateral versus medial equals
Away from midline versus closest to midline
Axial versus appendicular equals
Head/trunk versus lambs
Superficial versus deep equals
Closest to surface versus Internal
Distal versus proximal equal
Five versus near
always start at the start point; the point of attachment
Coronal frontal
Separation of ventral from dorsal
Sagittal versus mid sagittal
Separation of right and left; midsagittal is center
Transfers versus oblique
Separation of superior from inferior , amputation
List two dorsal cavities and what they contain.
Cranial which contains the brain and spinal which contains the spinal cord
List three central cavities and what they contain
1.) Thoracic which is the entire chest cavity.
A.) Media Stenum which contains organs heart, trachea, esophagus, and thymus.
B.) The Pleural contains one lung in each pleural cavity.
2.) Abdominal which covers the area below the diaphragm to the pelvic organs it contains the liver stomach spleen pancreas intestine and kidneys.
3.) pelvic organs include gonads bladder, urethra.
Assorted body cavities include nasal oral/ buccal, middle ear, orbital, and synovial. Where these body cavities located.
Behind the nose, mouth, ear canal/ hammer anvil, stirrup, Tympanic membrane, bone joint
Bones cartilage; support, movement, protection
Skeletal
Neurons, brain, spine; communication
Nervous
Muscles; movement, posture, heat, protection
Muscular
Heart, vessels, blood; delivering oxygen any chance
Cardiovascular
Nose, mouth, trachea, buttons; gas exchanged and atmosphere
Respiratory
Mouth, stomach, intestines; acquired nutrients, waste removal
Digestive
Kidneys, bladder, urethra; filter blood, waste removal
Urinary
Skin, hair, nails; protection
Integumentary
Gonads; continuation of species
Reproduction
Lymph, lymph nodes , lymphocytes; protection from disease, immune response
Lymphatic/Immune
Thyroid, Pancreas, pituitary; secrete hormones into blood.
