Fresh serum that has not been heated is usually recommended.
Storage—if testing is delayed
* Between 2°C and 8°C for up to 72 hours
* Frozen at –20°C or below
For certain tests, complement may need to be inactivated:
* Heat sample to 56°C for 30 minutes
