Demography
Is the study of populations.
Age structure
The distribution of ages in a specific population at a certain time.
survivorship
The percentage of members of a group that are likely to survive to any given age.
ferrtility rate
The number of babies born each year per 1,000 women in a population.
migration
Cities with more than 10 million inhabitants.
life expectancy
The average number of years a person is likely to live.
demographic transition
A model that describes how big changes can occur.
infrastructure
The basic facilities and services that support a community, such as public water supplies, sewer lines, power plants, roads, subways, schools, and hospitals.
arable land
Land that can be used to grow crops.
urbanization
More people are living in cities than in rural areas.
least developed countries
These countries show few signs of development and in some cases have increasing death rates, while birth rates remain high.
