Sterilization
The most complete process of removing pathogens; this destroys all living organisms, including bacterial spores.
Disinfection

Sanitation
The third level of decontamination practiced in the massage studio and is done with soaps or detergents and water.
Informed consent

SOAP notes
Subjective, objective, assessment or application, and planning.
Subjective
Initial interview. Client stated reason for massage; health history, present symptoms, aggravating conditions and how and when it started. (update subjective information at the beginning of each session.)
Objective
information the therapist gathered from history taking, observation and palpitations, interview or assessment procedures. The therapist treatment goals are noted, and information from subjective and objective findings are used to design the massage session.
Assessment (or application)
Summary of conditions or limitations; identification of contraindications and cautions. But it records what was done in the session and changes in symptoms or responses by the client to the procedures used. Session goals are reviewed. Any progress or changes either negative or positive relative to the massage session is documented.
Planning
