Q

What are the 2 main options for mandibulomaxillary fixation?
What are some general recommendations?

A
  • Tape/leather/plastic muzzle
  • Bis-acryl composite bridges (most commonly from mandibular to maxillary canines)

Should be snug enough to maintain dental interlock for stability but loose enough (gap of 0.5-1cm in cats, 1-1.5cm in dogs) to allow lapping up water and semi-liquid food

Q

What are the two most common forms of interdental wiring?

A
  • Stout multiple loop technique
  • Risdon wiring technique

At least 2 teeth per fragment should be included
Can place wire subgingivally to prevent slippage
MUST be combined with composite splint (placed lingually on mandibular teeth, bucally on maxillary teeth)
