5 Approaches to Ethical Decision Making
- utilitarianism: greatest good for greatest # of people
- individualism: individual’s long term success
- moral-rights: best maintain rights of those affected
- justice: equal, fair and impartial
- practical: interests of all stakeholders
3 levels of personal moral development
- pre-conventional: concerned with external rewards and punishments; personal consequences
- conventional: conform to expectations of society
- post-conventional: internal set of values
corporate social responsibility
mgmt.’s responsibility to take actions that benefit the interests of society and not just the corporation
triple bottom line
profit, planet, people
stakeholder
anyone with person interest or investment in the corporation and will be affected by its decisions

principle based: designed to affect corporate culture
