Ch 5- Circular Motion Flashcards
1
Q
Centripital force
A
Center seeking force
Must be included with centripital accel
Net force
2
Q
Periodic motion/ period
A
Repeated motion
Period- seconds/cycle
Frequency- cycles/second (Hz)
Rpm-Hz (divide by 60)
3
Q
Horizontal circle problems
A
Fn=Fg
Fn-Ff=muSFn
Fg-mg
4
Q
Vertical circular problems
A
Top of circle: Fc=Fn(Ft) + Fg
Bottom of circle: Fc=Fn(Ft) + Fg
Min speed?
5
Q
Instantaneous velocity in circular motion
A
The velocity of an object moving in a circle is the tangent line at that point
Same speed, different velocity (direction changing constantly)
When drawing vectors, change in velocity (centripital accel) always points to center of circle (resultant)
