Ch 1- 1dimensional Motion Flashcards
Vector
Magnitude & direction
Ex: velocity, acceleration, displacement
Convert m/s - km/h (vice versa)
M/s-k/h (x3.6)
Km/h-m/s (divide by 3.6)
Uniform motion/uniform accelerated motion
V=d/t
Object is moving at the same velocity
Same slope + same velocity
Instantaneous velocity
Velocity of an object at one moment of time
Slope of tangent = instantaneous velocity at time t on a d-t graph that isnt straight
Displacement-time graph
Calc speed- look at ENTIRE trip
Calc velocity-d/t, do not take backwards movement into account (straight line), distance should be positive
Slope = velocity
Slope of flat line is zero
Velocity-time graph
Flat line-constant velocity (at rest)
Slope is accel
Area under line is displacement ( b/h ) ONLY for rectangles
Negative values? Going backwards
Deceleration
Object moving in positive direction is slowing down
OR
Object mocing in negative direction is speeding up
Bi-directional motion
Back/forth, up/down motion along a straight line
Do not account for air resistance & friction
Ex: objects moving on a ramp
Max height?
Velocity = ZERO
Happens halfway through air time, ONLY if it comes back down to same height
Gees
No units
Divide accel to accel due to gravity
Scalar
Magnitude only
Ex: time, speed, distance
