They spent time on good things and prospered instead of fighting all the time.
Where did the Sumerians live?
Mesopotamia a place called Summer
How did the Sumerian cities protect themselves?
They built walls and towers.

What is a city state?
A city that has it’s own government.
What did Sargon want to do?
He wanted to rule over all of Mesopotamia.
Who were Sargons parents?
No one knows. He was found in a basket on the Euphrates River.
How did Sargon become King of Kish?
He was raised in the palace by the servant who found him. He became good friends with many people including the army. He convinced the army to kill the king and make him king of Kish.
How did Sargon unite the city states of Summer?
He fought over fifty battles.
How did Sargon keep the city states under his power?
He sent parts of his army to each city to punish those who didn’t follow his laws.
What is a military dictatorship?
A form of government where the army enforces rules and the people have no say.
What did Sargon call his new country?
Akkadia or the Akkadian Empire
What city did Sargon grow up in?
Kish
What job did Sargon have in the palace?
He was a cup bearer for the king.
