What is a delta?
A place where a river breaks up into many smaller rivers before going into the ocean.
What was special about the Nile river?
Every year it flooded. The river runs South to North. So when we talk about upper Egypt it is actually talking about the southern part that is up on mountains. And lower Egypt is North in the delta.
Why was it not a good idea to build a house by the Nile river.
It would flood your house.
Why were the floods so important for the farmers?
The floods brought up silt from the bottom of the river and spread it all over the farm land.
Silt
Dirt that is full of vitamins and minerals.

The people that lived along the Nile river.
How did the Egyptians make sure they had enough water for their crops during the dry season?
They dug canals that filled up when the river flooded then blocked off the ends so the water was trapped.
Who were the two tribes that lived in Egypt?
The upper Egyptians to the South and the Lower Egyptians to the North.
Did the two tribes of Egypt get along?
No they fought a lot and even took boats on the Nile and fought each other on the river.
The lower Egyptians were ruled by.

When the final battle was fought who won the right to rule all of Egypt?
King Narmer the white crown king.
What sort of crown did the new king wear?
He took the red kings crown and put it over his white crown. It looked like a tall white hat with a red band around the bottom.
