What does drug compounding mean? Why might this be done for veterinary drugs? List some concerns about this process.
Mixing together 2 or more ingredients to create final product in appropriate form for dosing

Why must a package insert accompany any drug?
because label doesnt have room for all info
What must be included on a drug package label?
indication for use, warning, precaution, storage, contraindication, Adverse reaction
What is the difference between dispensing and prescribing?
Prescribed- prescription to take to pharmacy
Dispense- given within vet hospital
What is a VCPR?
Veterinary Client Patient Relationship
What are the 7 parts of a written prescription?
Vet name/address, clients name, vet signature, # of refills, instruction for giving, date prescription issued
When you dispense a drug, what must you include on the prescription label?
Date of order, client name, animal name, species, dispenser name, drug name, direction for use, withdrawal times
What does turnover rate mean? Why is this important?
The number of times inventory is depleted & replenished each year
Important to be able to monitor your inventory & can track dispensing history on a daily/monthly/annual basis
Give some examples of where veterinary drugs might be purchased.
Direct marketing, distributors/wholesalers, other vets, buying groups, pharmacies
