Anticipatory Socialization
Learning that helps a person achieve a desired position
Gerontocracy
A form of social organization in which elders have the most wealth. Power and prestige; occurs in preindustrial society
Ageism
Prejudice and discrimination against the elderly
Total Institutions
Staff members supervise all aspects of life. Ex. Orphanages, prisons, boarding schools
Resocialization
Radically changing an inmate’s personality by carefully controlling the environment.
