1) anticipation step
2) implementation step
3) relaxation step
what is the anticipation step?
the first step of gesture; involves the bringing of the hands into a position from which the gesture can be made.
what is the implementation step?
the execution of a gesture, raising the hand and moving it in the intended manner
what is the relaxation step?
returning the hands to a normal relaxed position at the conclusion of a gesture
what are modes of presentation?
modes of presentation are the 4 different ways in which to deliver a speech

what is impromptu presentation?
a mode of presentation in which the speaker has done little or no specific preparation for the speech.
what is memorized presentation?
the opposite of speaking impromptu; the speaker pays close attn to a prepared text and commits it to memory
what is manuscript presentation?
a mode of presentation in which the speaker reads aloud the prepared text of the speech
what is extemporaneous presentation?
a speech that is prepared and rehearsed but is neither written out nor memorized
which of the 4 modes is the best form of presentation?
the extemporaneous mode
what are the four steps of practicing for the speech?
1) develop the presentation outline
2) mentally rehearse the speech
