Q

figure ground/coffe table

A

Orientation/automatic processing/grouping, experince shape of coffee cup while the rest is the ground.perception is automatically separated into the figure(stands out/shape) and its less distinct background, the ground(no shape).(camouflage)

Q

WHat are some grouping?

A

Law of similarity-perceive objects in similar size/shape/colo/runit
Law of closure:tendency to fill in gaps in an incomplete image
Law of good continuation-tendency to group things that are in the same directions s a single unit
Law of proximity-perceive objects close to each other as one unit

Q

Monocular cues

A

Overlap - when one object partially blocks another, the partially blocked object is perceived as further away
Motion parallax refers to the tendency for nearby objects to seem to move by faster than distant objects
Relative Size(2 objects that are similar sized then bigger object appears closer)
Aerial perspective. Faraway objects appear hazy or blurred by the atmosphere.
Linear perspective(Closer parallel line meet in distance, farther they appear to be)
texture gradient-(distant texture on surface appears less distinct the farther it is)

Q

bioncualr cues

A

Binocular Depth Cues-Distance or depth cues that require the use of both eyes.
Convergence-the degree to which muscles rotate your eyes to focus on object
Binocular disparity-Each eye presents info with slightly different visual
