什么 - to ask about objects/things
几 - to ask about numbers

The word order is exactly the same as declarative sentences. The interrogative pronoun is put in the position where the answer would be found.

的 is usually used between 谁 and a noun but not between 什么 and a noun.

i.e., 这是谁的地图？, 这是什么地图？
