A
It works like “is” to connect nouns, ie: 我是美国人

A
Add 不 in front of 是， ie: 我不是老师

A
It turns the sentence into interrogative, ie:
Are you chinese? = 你是中国人吗？

A
yě means “also”, and it goes before verb and other adverbs:
He is also not Canadian: 他也不是加拿大人。
