What is the U.S. Pharmacopeia?
an organization that works towards creating safety and quality standards to help ensure the production of safe medications (requires pharmacists to create a compound record and a master formulation record or any compound drugs)
Non-sterile compounding:
the creation of medications that are administered in ways that do not have a high risk of infection (usually orally or topically)
What are some procedures that must be followed in non-sterile compounding?
equipment must be sanitized, packing material cannot be reused, work area must be cleaned with an alcohol-based solution, and workers must use PPE.
Sterile compounding:
the creation of meds that are administered in a way that has a high risk of infection (such as IV, injections, or eye)

non-hazardous material & non-controlled drugs

toxic unused chemicals, pesticides
