What does the RHYTHM do?
Moves music FORWARD in time
What is a BEAT?
**unit of the “rhythm”
—regular pulse that divides TIME into equal segmentation
What is an ACCENTED BEAT?
**Some beats “Stronger” than others
—(regular intervals - every other beat, every 3rd beat, every 5th beat, and so on)
What is the METER?
Organized PATTERNS

**4 beats to the measure—primary accent on 1ST BEAT && secondary accent on 3RD BEAT
BROAD feeling (& can’t hear ALL beats)

What is the METER that has a BEAT divided into 2?
**SIMPLE METER
