Spelling inventories
Consists of list of words specifically chosen to represent spelling features/ difficulties and the results give a general picture of their orthographic development
Primary spelling inventory
26 words that begin with simple CVC words and goes to inflectional endings. Recommended for K-3rd. If you know 20 or more words then you move on to the next level.
Elementary spelling inventory
25 words that begin with words like bed and goes to opposition. Can be for 1st to 6th grade. 18 words to move to the next level.
Upper level spelling inventory
Middle school, high school, or college level. 31 word from easiet to hardest.
Reversals
Are letters like B and d
Static reversal
Is when a B or P is written backwards
Kinetic reversal
When letters are present but out of order
Emergent class record
Is used to assess daily writing or spelling inventory
Kindergarten spelling inventory
The feature guide gives credit for identifying phenomena in representing the sound with phonetically logical letters, even if they are incorrect
McGuffey spelling inventory
Is useful for individual testing and for obtaining grade level information this works best for trying to show grade level
Viise word feature inventory
Uses four or five stages of development word knowledge
