agoraphobia
the fear of being vulnerable and unable to get help or escape the setting
social anxiety disorder
an excessive fear of situations in which a person might do something embarrassing or be evaluated negatively by others
1st line med- SSRIs (sertraline, paroxetine)
specific phobias
fear of specific objects or situations that could conceivably cause harm (e.g., snakes, heights), but the person’s reaction to them is excessive, unreasonable, and inappropriate
(split into 5 groups)
obsessions
intrusive thoughts that are recurrent and stressful. although they are recognized by the individual as irrational, they cannot be ignored
compulsions
repetitive ritualistic behaviors or mental acts that the individual feels driven to perform, which are intended to reduce the anxiety associated with obsessive thoughts
OCD
include the presence of obsessions or compulsions, or both, the severity of which is significant enough to cause distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning
