What is minor Consent?
-Kids under 21 without their parent’s knowledge or consent.
-Parents cannot apply on the minor’s behalf when needing confidentiality.
-minor must live with parent
-includes kids away at school but dependent on parents taxes
Are kids 14-18 considered adults/emancipated not living at home of parent, guardian and legal guardian not handling financial affairs allowed to apply for Minor Consent?
No, these kids are not allowed to use Minor Consent.
What does Minor Consent cover for kids under12 years?
Pregnancy and pregnancy related care.
Family planning services.
Sexual assault services.
What services doesMinor Consent cover for kids OVER 12?
Sexually transmitted infection treatment and prevention.
Drug & alcohol use treatment and counseling.
Mental health outpatient care.
Pregnancy and pregnancy related care.

What does Minor Consent NOT cover?
Methadone treatment.
Psychotropic drugs.
Convulsive therapy.
Psychosurgery.
Sterilization
How does a minor apply for minor consent?
They are required to go through normal pre-application and intake procedures.
If a non-citizen an MC 13 must be completed.
Who may apply for Minor Consent?
-Under 21
-parents cannot apply on child’s behalf.
BUT patent can accompany and confidentially is not compromised.
When will a Minor Consent application NOT be processed?
-A minor under12 applying for drug and alcohol treatment, sexually transmitted infection, mental health outpatient.
-Minor currently eligible for Medi-Cal with no SOC
-Minor covered under a managed care plan.
Confidentiality and minor consent
When a minor is applying, the worker who is working with the minor, will make sure to issue, and I am card and no entry will be placed in case comments worker shall not report other health coverage information for children who are applying for minor consent services when minors included in his her MFBU, and child’s parents have an old HC, the OHC code must be removed from the minors paper card if the minor has his around OHC through his employer, other stores, but the OHC coat on the minors paper card
What verification required to process a minor consent case?
Minor consent applicants are not required to provide any verification of identity, norther, Social Security card, nor pregnancy
If a child claims to have a legal resident status, but does not have an easy access to such verification the work, or may not request verification of immigration status
A SAVE she’ll not be submitted for minor consent
The minor consent applicant is not required to verify the need for minor consent services, except for mental health services. If the minors employee they must provide paystub.
What is a period of eligibility for minor consent
The paper ID card is good for one year from the date of issuance. Workers are not the issue a new card with a minor reapplies reminder consent services unless it’s been 12 months since the last date of issuance or the card is lost.
