what is interpersonal conflict?
when one person’s motives, goals, beliefs, or behaviour interfere with, and are incompatible with one another.
dissimilarity breeds interpersonal conflict
4 responses to conflict:
VLEN
- voice
- loyalty
- exit
- neglect
1.) VOICE response:
behaving in active, constructive manner=trying to improve situation
2.)Loyalty
behaving in passive, but constructive behaviour. optimistically waiting
3.)exiting
actively destructive-leaving or threatening to leave partner, abuse: yell, hit
4.) neglect
passive & destructively avoiding issues, reducing inTERdependance with partner (thus weakening relationship)
