Cervical Spine Tx Flashcards
What type of technique is ME?
Active, direct tx
How would you treat OA F RrSl with ME?
put into E RlSr, they try to go back to neutral, relax, go into new barrier
What is the initial position that you put the patient in when treating with ME for AA Rr?
rotate them left
What type of technique is HVLA?
passive, direct
When doing HVLA on the OA joint, which hand is your thrusting hand?
the one contacting OA joint, which should be the same side the OA is rotated (rotated right, use right hand)
What is important about doing HVLA on typical cervicals?
Decide whether rotation or side bending is worse
SB: put where it doesn’t live for SB and where it LIKES to live for rotation
Rotation: put in rotation restriction and LIKES to live for side bending
What are the spinal mechanics of each part of the cervical?
OA: modified type 1
AA: rotation only
typicals: modified type 2
What DTRs should you do for the upper extremity and how would you document a normal finding?
C5- biceps
C6- brachioradialis
C7- triceps
normal= 2/4
What is the Spurling’s maneuver testing for?
tests for nerve root compression; positive- pain down arm
If when evaluating OA restriction to translation to the right, which way side bent?
sidebent right
What must we always do when evaluating the AA joint?
lock out C-spine by flexing
