what is it?
A
a neuromuscular disorder with onset before 2-3 years of age
it is because of an insult to the immature brain before, during or after birth

what is the causes cerebral palsy?
A
genetic problems
brain malformation
intrauterine infection in early pregnancy
prematurity
intra-cranial haemorrhage
hypoxia during birth and meningitis
10% cases are due to problems during labour

what determines the severity of the presentation?
A
the area of the brain affected ranging from mild symptoms and signs limited to one limb or total body involvement with profound learning difficulties
development milestones may be missed and the ability to ambulate or perform normal tasks may be impaired
