Cellular Processes Flashcards
Cellular Respiration word equation
Glucose + Oxygen → Carbon Dioxide + Water + ENERGY (ATP)
(in Mitochondria)
Cellular respiration chemical equation
C 6 H 12 O 6 + 6 O 2 –> 6 CO 2 + 6 H 2 O + ATP
purpose of cellular respiration
The purpose of cellular respiration is to make energy, or ATP, for the cell. All cellular processes require ATP and ATP is necessary to keep all cells alive.
How are cells organized in the human body?
All human bodies are made up of many cells, and those cells are organized by grouping together to create tissues, then organs, to systems to oranganisms
Which body systems are involved in making it possible for all cells to get the materials needed?
The circulatory system is involved in making it possible for cells to get all the materials needed by carrying oxygen, nutrients and hormones to cells, as well as removing waste products like carbon dioxide from those cells.
Are there any specialized organelles that help permit this process of cellular respiration
respiration, the mitochondria break down food molecules and provide the main molecular energy supply in ATP. Lysosomes are a central part of getting rid of any of the unwanted materials in our bodies.
How do cells get rid of any unwanted (waste) materials?
Lysosomes
