Cells And The Microscope Flashcards
What is in the cell?
The cell membrane, the nucleus and the cytoplasm.
What is in the plant cell?
The cell membrane, the nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplast, cell wall and the vacoule.
What is the function of the cell wall in the cell?
Provides support
What is the function of the cell membrane in the cell?
Controls what enters and leaves the cells.Very thin layer.
What is the fuction of chloroplast in the cell?
Makes food in photosynthesis by trapping sun light.
What is the function of cytoplasm in the cell?
Holds cells contents or a watery fluid.
What is the function of the vacoule in the cell?
Store food.
What is the function of the nucleus in the cell?
Controls the activities of the cell.It contains genes that control inherited characteristics.
How are organisms organised?
Cells
What are the parts of the microscope?
Eyepiece lens, focus knobs, nosepiece, objective lens, stage and mirror.
What is the function of the eyepiece lens?
Nearest to the eye and magnificance is marked.
What is the function of the focus knob?
Allows the image of an object to be clearly seen.
What are the two types of focus knob?
Fine focus knob, Coarse focus knob.
What is the function of the coarse focus knob?
Brings the object roughly into the focus
What is the function of the fine focus knob?
Allows for precise focusing.
What is the function of the nosepiece?
Revolves and allows the use of different lenses on the nosepiece.
What is the objective lenses?
Different magnification and the total magnification of the image is found by multlyong the power of the eyepiece lens with the objective lens
What is the function of the stage?
To veiw an object under a microscope and to hold the object you use the clips.
What is the function of the mirror?
Used to reflect light through the object.
