Cells Flashcards
What are cells?
Cells are what organisms are made up of.
What is an organism?
An organism is a living thing for example, animals, humans, plants, etc.
What are the features of animal cells and what they do?
Nucleus: controls what the cell does.
Cytoplasm: A jelly like stuff this is where most chemical reactions happen.
Cell membrane: It is a thin skin it is what keeps together the and controls what gets in and out of the cell.
Mitochondria: This is where the reactions for aerobic respiration.
What are the features of plant cells and what do they do?
Nucleus: controls what the cell does.
Cytoplasm: jelly like stuff that is where most chemical reactions happen.
Cell membrane: It is a thin skin that keeps the cell together and controls what goes in and out of the cell.
Mitochondria: it is where the reactions for aerobic respiration.
Cell wall: a rough outer coating it gives support to the cell.
Vacuole: a large cell sac filled with cell sap.
Chloroplasts: this contains chlorophyll used to make photosynthesis which makes food for plants.
What is the difference between animal and plant cells?
The following are what plant cells have and not what animal cells have:
1) Cell wall
2) Vacuole
3) Chloroplast
What are multicellular organisms?
Multicellular organisms are organisms that are made up of multiple cells.
What is a unicellular organisms?
A unicellular organism is a organism that is made up of one cell.
What is the cell wall made of?
It is made up of cellulose.
