Tay-Sacks disease: Causes
Occurs when lysosomes lack an enzyme needed to break down glycolipid (abundant in nerve cell membrane)

Nerve cell lysosomes swell with undigested lipids…interferes with NS func.
Tay-Sacks disease: Symptoms
In infants: doll-like features & pink, translucent skin ~6 months
Listlessness, motor weakness, mental retardation, seizures, blindness
Death w/n 18 months-4 years
